Jungle Shoot is a 2D run and gun action platformer where players will need to conquer 40 levels of light mayhem as you kill enemies and wooden blocks in your way as you collect coins and find a machine gun power and find health pack to regain some health.

The machinegun upgrade allows you to shoot faster for a limited time. Along with enemies shooting, running, and flying at/over you trying to stop you on your goal to conquer all levels, you’ll also have a handful of hazards such as electric lines, circular saws and hidden mines.

The game looks decent. Each level is set in a jungle setting, thus the game’s name, featuring a mix of various shades of green and brown color palette. You’ll have three different types of enemies; soldiers, wild boars and flying saucers. The soundtrack is an annoying loop of rock playing non stop. It’s ear-grating.

The game’s first issue is the mines. While a light grey, it’s very easy to miss them and get avoidable damage. Also each level looks exactly the same. The coins are useless; you can even max out to 1000 *before* reach the last 10 levels. Huge missed opportunity to have a shop where you could buy permanent upgrades.

Also, the game is 40 levels long. While I like to get the most out of each game I play, if everything looks the same and there’s no gameplay changes or variety, it becomes boring and tedious. I feel like 20 levels would’ve been the sweet spot here.

While I understand that Jungle Shoot is an indie game, it feels like a missed opportunity for minor improvements; purposes for the coins, 1-2 variants in terms of upgrades, more visual diversity. On the flipside, it’s an easy 2000Gs, and you don’t even need to complete all 40 levels. If you need a bitesized gaming experience between AAA experiences or want to introduce your reasonably aged kids to gaming, Jungle Shoot is a good option. Otherwise, you’ll get your fill after 20 levels.
