Have you ever wondered what your pets get up to when you need to pop out and have to leave them at home all alone? Well, this isn’t the answer to that, but it will give you an insight into Pets At Work!

Following a cat and dog duo that need to work together to try and find their owners in the office,  Pets At Work is a simple yet pleasant puzzling platformer, that’s extremely easy to pick up and play.

Pets At Work consists of 30 levels where you need to move boxes and trampolines in order to progress. It keeps itself fresh by adding in a new mechanic roughly every 5 levels. From switches that control fans that can impact the outcome of object placement, or slippery pipes that the cat can slide through, just helps to keep it engaging as you progress.

The dog can only jump a certain height, but can push objects around, while the cat can jump considerably higher than the dog, but is not able to push any objects around the level, so you will need to be smart with your movement as you switch between each character and have them carry out the tasks needed.

While playing solo it is left down to you, grabbing that second controller lets a friend jump in and take control of one of the pesky pet duo and allows you to work together as a team to search for the owners.

Pets At Work is a very simplistic looking puzzle platforming game that also just happens to be very easy to pick up and play, perfect for people with younger siblings or non-seasoned gaming acquaintances who want to get in on the action.

Naturally, the difficulty will ramp up as you progress through each level, with level layer on becoming a “double level” of sorts as the exit door is now an elevator that brings you to another room with the actual exit door, which helps add a little more longevity to the game without making it feel like there is an overwhelming amount of levels.

Aside from the dog getting caught on silly little things, I can’t fault the mechanics. The whole experience works well even played solo, as pressing Y lets you switch to the cat, so you can come and help yourself out of any pickle you may find yourself in.

Overall Pets At work is a charming platforming game that plays well in both single player and co-operatively. It’s an Ideal experience for someone new to gaming, or are someone of young age learning the ropes. The aesthetic is pleasing,  the music is charming and even though I’m personally more of a dog fan, it uses a rather cute cat and dog duo.

With an easy 1000 Gamerscore up for grabs upon completion of the game, it’s a solid little package that I recommend if you’re looking for a game that will make you think, but not too hard.
