#SinucaAttack is a unique gaming experience that mixes two genres you’d never expect to see: puzzle and pool (a.k.a. billiards). In each level, players will be called upon to hit a pool ball around the room and hit a switch to open the door to the next area.

Given that this is a 2D platformer instead of an over-the-top view like typical pool games, you’ll have to figure out ways to hit the ball while in the air making sure your aim is accurate. As you progress through the various rooms, the challenge will increase accordingly featuring new obstacles to circumvent in order to move on.

So the game uses a unique control scheme; So instead of either using the joysticks to hit the balls or a combo of joystick and face buttons, it uses the bumpers: LB to jump and RB to hit the ball while you aim. It’s definitely a unique scheme that adds a layer of challenge to an already challenging experience.

The game has an enjoyable 2D pixelated aesthetic. Level design is vast given the game’s reliance on puzzles, you can’t afford to either repetitive or similar levels. Color palettes do vary as well, but they do repeat. The soundtrack is a chiptune synthwave affair; definitely one of the best things about this game. Oddly enough some soundbites reminded me of Scott Pilgrim vs The World game.

The main problematic thing with this game is a very important part of gaming: the controls. It is so counterintuitive and so frustrating to use. While I applaud this new mish-mash of genres, the control scheme screws everything up, and not being able to revamp the controls will get you to quit this faster than you can say #SinucaAttack.

#SinucaAttack is one of the worst, most atrocious, cumbersome, clunky games I’ve ever played despite its unique gameplay mechanic. The controls are counterintuitive, the gameplay is very limited, and offers basically no replay value unless you’d want to torture yourself by replaying the same levels. This is a perfect example if it doesn’t exist, maybe there’s a reason. Save your time and money for something more playable.
