Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones is a 2D platformer developed by Curve Digital, which throws a dangerous laboratory setting at you filled with test subject clones. The gameplay can both be rewarding and punishing, depending on how well you tackle the sixty test chambers on offer. If you’ve played the prequel, you’re not going to be disappointed.

Say cheese!

Building upon its predecessor, Stealth Inc 2 throws more of the same, but does it better. Instead of trying to overcomplicate mechanics by adding too many new elements, it sticks to its roots, but delivers them in a way so the game feels fresh. The levels are cleverly and beautifully designed and you’ll be admiring your fellow clone brothers alongside you on the screen and probably be saving a few of them too.

It has a lot of charm and it’s one of those titles you can come home from work or school to get stuck into without it being too stressful. I’ve played my fair share of platformers and raged at many, but this is very relaxing and equally as challenging. You’ll find yourself hooked in no time after a few minutes becomes hours.

I think we’ve been spotted.

As the title suggests, the most important aid to you is stealth. Using bushes to sneak past security cameras or creeping into a handy ventilation shaft are just a few examples of ways to progress throughout each level. Of course, they aren’t always as conveniently placed, but nonetheless, you’ll find some way of getting past an obstacle.

The majority of enemies you encounter will also destroy you in one hit, so there is a difficulty curve thrown in there, but it’s an easy and enjoyable one to learn. You’ll always make the wrong choices, that’s a given, but you’ll also learn from them quickly. Take one wrong turn and end up in an enemy’s path, then you’ll spot a secret passage next time to avoid them.

The real fun picks up once you’ve learnt all the tools of the trade and you’re the master of stealth. You’ll be able to get through the levels without much trouble, as you’ll have much more at your disposal. You can also explore your surroundings for a few hidden gems, but we’ll let you find them for yourself.

Deadly lasers incoming!

Generally the game does look pretty good with its graphics and the soundtrack is perfect for the stealth action on-screen. It’s not quite up there with the recently released Ori and the Blind Forest, but it comes close and has its own uniqueness.

If you’ve finished the game, you can always try out the level editor afterwards and create your own stealth challenge. You can also download what others have created and play them, so there’s a real community aspect to the title.

If you’re a fan of action platforming titles, then Stealth Inc 2 is definitely for you. If you want a better overall package, then Ori and the Blind Forest is most likely your best bet, but Curve Digital’s title offers an equal amount of charm, not to mention content.

Pros

  • Great soundtrack to accompany the action
  • Community level editor
  • Has plenty of charm

Cons

  • Some players might not find it interesting
  • Having to traverse from one point to the other if you die can be tiring
