Urban Trial Tricky Deluxe Edition is a physics-based game, akin to Ubisoft’s Trials Fusions, where players, on their two-wheeled ride, need to ride around on a 2D platform. The biggest difference is while Fusion players need to reach the finish line, Urban Trial Tricky has players pulling off various tricks in order to get the high score, collect money bags, etc… all within a given time. It’s a bit similar to what we do in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, but instead of a 3D platform, you’re on a 2D platform filled with jumps and other obstacles.

Urban Trial Tricky Deluxe Edition will call players to ride around various levels in order to grab the various collectibles peppered around the playgrounds. You’ll also have obstacles to play with where you’ll be able to pull various moves from a simple 180 to a Superman. Obviously, the bigger combo you pull off, the higher the score. You also need to avoid crash as it will break your combo.

In order to unlock new areas to ride around with, you’ll need to net the required score in the level you’re attempting. As you climb the proverbial high score ladder, you’ll be rewarded with stars. Stars can be used to unlock new rides and rider customization options.

The game’s main nuisance resides in its gameplay. Whereas more arcade-y games are easier to grasp and master, physics-based riding games require a bit more time and dedication in order to net the required scores to unlock additional playgrounds. The other issue is the sudden spike in difficulty. Right after the tutorial levels, you’re thrown into an area where it requires a crazy amount of points to unlock the sequel level. Prepare to grind and practice over and over in the same first official level in order to grasp the controls.

Urban Trial Tricky Deluxe Edition has a cutesy cartoon-ish visual; obviously, you don’t play this type of game for their overall presentation, but for the unique and challenging gameplay; it does feel like a Saturday morning cartoon and the ragdoll physics is always a good laugh when crashing. Levels are uniquely designed and properly challenging; maybe too much at times. The soundtrack is a fun and quirky score that easily gets drowned out while you focus on not crashing.

Urban Trial Tricky Deluxe Edition is a fun, albeit hard to master, physics-based riding game. Levels are fun to ride through and tricks are fun and easy to perform as a whole, but it all comes down to the controls. Unlike games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Urban Trial Tricky Deluxe Edition requires a bit of dedication. If you can take the time to master its controls, you’ll find a deeply addictive game. Otherwise, you might wanna skip it.
