Fans of The Angry Video Game Nerd have been eagerly awaiting news about the physical editions of The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit, and today, Retroware is excited to share the news. During today’s Limited Run Games LRG3 broadcast, the forever physical publisher announced that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 versions of The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit, which released digitally on consoles and current-gen platforms on October 22, will open on Tuesday, November 4, and remain available through Sunday, December 7.
Developed by Programancer, creator of Prison City and The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest, The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit brings the Nerd’s latest adventure to modern consoles in all its pixelated glory. In addition to the current-generation releases, a collectible NES cartridge edition—developed by Pittsburgh-based publisher and developer Mega Cat Studios—will also be available for pre-order. This authentic retro release will come in multiple color variants, including standard NES gray, as well as Legendary Gold, Nerd Rage Red, and Super Mecha Baddie Blue limited editions.

Also announced during the broadcast, Retroware’s unapologetically stylish cyberpunk run-’n’-gun Neon Inferno is blazing toward a physical release. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 editions will open on the Limited Run Games online store shortly after the game’s digital launch on November 20, running from Tuesday, November 25, through Sunday, December 28.
These releases cap off a whirlwind year for Retroware, and the Philly-based studio is just getting started. Their critically acclaimed modern retro releases Prison City and Iron Meat will receive physical releases in 2026 courtesy of LRG, with more details to be announced by the publisher at a later date. Additionally, physical pre-orders for Retroware’s hotly anticipated four-player beat-’em-up, Toxic Crusaders, will open up shortly after the game’s newly-announced April 2026 digital launch.
