Kinetic Games has confirmed that Phasmophobia’s long-awaited Player Character Update will launch next week, bringing a major refresh to the co-op horror title’s ghost hunters.
The update introduces redesigned player models, improved animations, and a new character customisation system. According to the developer, players will be able to personalise their investigators using a range of free cosmetic options.
The overhaul was previously outlined as part of the game’s 2026 roadmap, where Kinetic Games said it wanted to modernise the player experience ahead of future updates and the eventual full 1.0 release.
Phasmophobia launched on Xbox Series X|S in October 2024 after becoming a breakout hit on PC. Since then, the game has continued to receive regular content drops, map reworks, and quality-of-life improvements.
The Player Character Update lands on 5th May across all platforms.
