DDoD, the upcoming 1-4 player co-op roguelite shooter from independent studio The Future Entertainment Company, is officially coming to Xbox Series X|S in Q4 2026.

The Xbox release will launch simultaneously alongside the PC versions on Steam and the Epic Games Store, giving Xbox players the chance to jump into the post-apocalyptic shooter alongside their PC counterparts.

A new gameplay trailer has also been released, offering a closer look at the game’s fast-paced combat, co-op gameplay, weapons, mutations and the dangerous world of the Purple Lands.

DDoD takes players into the Purple Lands, a sprawling 60 km² industrial wasteland that has been transformed by a mysterious, semi-sentient biological anomaly known as the Fog – once a thriving industrial region, the area is now filled with abandoned towns, factories, military checkpoints, research bunkers and dungeons. The game’s world is built using real-world topography and features a variety of environments, including dense forests, swamps and industrial ruins. The Fog has also dramatically altered the region’s wildlife and inhabitants. Exposure causes DNA mutations, resulting in creatures that might look surprisingly adorable at first glance, but are anything but harmless.

Tactical combat meets roguelite progression

Combat in DDoD combines top-down shooting with a focus on tactical positioning, realistic weapon handling and limited ammunition.

Enemies react to noise, meaning players will need to think carefully about how they approach encounters. A pack of mutant creatures can require a very different strategy to an elite squad of infected mercenaries.

Weapons can also be customised with modifications and elemental effects, allowing players to tailor their arsenal to different situations.

Outside of combat, players are free to decide how they approach each run. Starting from their base, they can explore the open world, complete side quests, search for equipment and upgrades, or take the risk of heading directly into the dangerous Fog.

Some Fog-covered areas contain powerful mini-bosses and rare elemental essences and crafting modifications for players willing to take the risk.

As a co-op shooter, DDoD supports between one and four players. Teams can explore the Purple Lands together, share loot, revive fallen teammates and coordinate attacks against the game’s various threats.

The game also features roguelite progression, with certain upgrades carrying over between runs. However, dying means players will need to search for new equipment or potentially recover the gear from their previous body.

Meet the locals

The Purple Lands aren’t entirely devoid of civilisation. Players will encounter a cast of eccentric, fully voiced survivors living within the region’s bunkers.

Among them are Basile, a grumpy gate guard, Lucia, a grandmother who deals in weapons, and Mort, a bartender who appears to know everyone’s business.

According to The Future Entertainment Company, surviving in the Purple Lands requires more than just good shooting skills.

DDoD will be available simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
