Bethesda has announced that its much anticipated Space RPG title, Starfield, has suffered another small delay and will now launch on September 6th. The game had been originally set to launch in November 2022, however, the game was then moved to launch in the first half of 2023, and it has now narrowly moved past that launch window.

They made the announcement via an official launch date video, where they also confirmed that there will be a ‘Starfield Direct’ on June 11th 2023.  Microsoft has since also confirmed that their big Xbox summer showcase will air on that same day prior to the Starfield Direct.

Todd Howard, the game’s director had this to say on Starfield’s release date:

“Hey everyone, from myself and everybody here at Bethesda, we are so excited to finally tell you when Starfield is coming out this year,” said Todd Howard as part of the announcement video.

“We have poured ourselves into this game and even I’m surprised how much we can pour, it is large.”

Howard also referenced the Starfield Direct, which is scheduled to take place in June, during what is traditionally thought of as E3 week.

“But also this June we’re gonna bring you into the studio, and give you a deep dive into the game at our Starfield Direct. There’s so much that we still have to show you.”

Starfield will launch as a console exclusive on Xbox Series X/S as well as be available on day one via Xbox Game Pass at launch. It will also be available on PC.
