For years I have loved Formula 1 and everything that comes with it. The thrill of the race, the pulsating atmosphere, and all the technical aspects of the build, maintenance and upgrading of those roaring arrows on four wheels. I’ve even got into the data analysis side of things in recent times, and it makes for an amazing package. When you immerse yourself into the Formula One racing world, it’s so much more than 22 fast cars whizzing round a track!

I feel like I’ve grown as a fan of F1 over the years, from that small boy that use to tune in with his old man on a Sunday and watch the likes of Prost, Senna, Mansell, Schumacher and Damon Hill, go round the track really fast, to someone that watches the full race weekend. No longer is it just a Sunday affair, for me it starts on the Friday, right from that very first practice session!

As a gamer you may not be surprised to hear, that my all-time favourite genre is that of a racing nature. I have played just about every Formula One game there has ever been, and certainly not just the licensed ones. If a racing game is available to buy, it is pretty much take my money time, day one. I’m a bit of racing fan junky when it comes to racing games, looking for my next Fix.

F1 22 presents, New Cars, New Rules, and New Circuits, all with the promise of entering a new era of Formula One, much like this season’s real world changes, the edition of the licensed game follows suit with amazing detail and realism.

In the actual world, Formula One is currently experiencing one of its most well-known seasons. Since the rules have changed, cars are now more capable of being raced than they have been in years, and the duel between the tremendously gifted young drivers Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc is thrilling. The official Formula One video game for this year, F1 22, has the technical prowess necessary to capitalise on the real sport’s rising popularity.

F1 22 features brand-new, ground-breaking automobiles created for closer, more thrilling racing, significant rule changes with the addition of F1® Sprint, the debut of the Miami International Autodrome, and circuit modifications to Spain, Australia, and Abu Dhabi.

Significant technology advancements are included in F1® 22, such as updated physics, handling, and tyre models that accurately reflect the changes that have really occurred in the sport. In order to keep novice players immersed in the action at all times, the game features Adaptive AI, an option that modifies the level of difficulty applied to AI competitors while also adapting their pace and competitiveness. In single-player or multiplayer modes, players can experience the adrenaline rush from the cockpit with their friends.

With the addition of interactive and cinematic features, such as Immersive and Broadcast choices for Pit Stops, Formation Laps, and Safety Car periods, the game becomes truer to that race day experience. A dynamic musical score, expanded commentary teams across different countries, and, for the first time in the history of the game, a licenced soundtrack with a diverse roster of electronic and dance artists are just a few of the notable audio improvements in F1® 22.

F1® Life, a new configurable social hub that offers gamers a peek of an F1® driver away from the race, is introduced in the game. This private area serves as a multiplayer lobby and enables users to display their supercar, clothing, accessory, and trophy collections, which they have acquired through in-game challenges, podium pass levels, brand purchases, and in-game purchases. The eight supercars add fresh gameplay obstacles like drifting and battling, and they can be driven on-track in the Pirelli Hot Lap feature, simulating the opening hours of the race weekend.

F1® 22 enhances its feature set for players in addition to all the thrilling in-game innovations by bringing back My Team, which now has three starting positions, the acclaimed 10-year Career with two-player capabilities, and multiplayer with offline split-screen.

On The Track

Even by the high standards of Codemasters previous games, F1 22 is simply fantastic. Codemasters had to develop a completely new physics model for the new cars because they had larger wheels and lower profile tyres, and yet they handle incredibly convincingly and feel very different from the vehicles from the previous year. F1 22 doesn’t have a story mode, but it contains a tonne of activities and has been improved with wise changes: For instance, the team management and driving mode My Team now intelligently offers three entrance points, one of which allows you to start as a top team and presents obstacles to preserve that status, quality right? No more starting from the back of the grid!

A number of updates make F1 22 even more realistic. F1 22 as a game successfully mimics Sky’s TV coverage, and new drivers can activate an AI preset that will exaggerate any shortcomings in their skills. When the driver assistance is disabled, it resembles a rock-solid simulator. No other popular racing game is as adept at supporting such a broad range of driving abilities.

F1 Life Opinion

A new option in F1 22 called F1 Life is designed to enable you to virtually live the opulent life of a Formula One driver. You are given a home that you can adorn with opulent virtual furnishings and accessories for your avatar with supercars and virtual clothing from actual brands. F1 Life strikes me as a cynical way of bringing microtransactions into an up till now untarnished racing game. It’s something I had hoped I would never see in an F1 game, especially in today’s climate.

No Breaking Point Feature

I’ll keep this bit short and sweet. One of the best additions to the previous game was breaking point. A Narrative driven story, that engaged you, even taught you the basics, a sort of introduction to F1 racing if you will, has disappeared. Many, including myself would have been hoping for the next instalment of Aiden Jackson’s Career, the story mode that combined the high-stakes thrill of on-track competition with off-track drams and personality conflicts. Breaking Point put you at the centre of an engrossing story set within the modern-day F1, sadly it hasn’t returned

Final Thoughts

F1 22 offers realistic, and high-adrenaline racing moments, and strikes an excellent balance for race fans of all abilities and heightens the authenticity of the Formula 1 experience.

Codemasters have provided there most comprehensive overhaul of the game’s handling, presentation, and physics, along with a variety of cutting-edge lifestyle options. F1 22 provides gamers with a thrilling entry point into the F1 universe and a chance to become closer to the sport than before.

F1 22 in a nutshell, is an amazing racing game and this year’s instalment has once again excelled. It’s the little improvements, and the added realism that put this ahead of last year’s effort, although I still can’t get over the lack of another Breaking Point adventure.
