If you want a game that’ll slowly eat away at your mind and soul, you must pick up a copy of Soulstone Survivors. Game Smithing has created a hellishly addictive title that gets under your skin. Furthermore, it is so easy to play that a child could master it if they didn’t wish to leave the house.

This action roguelike will appeal to fans of Vampire Survivors and Brotato. However, this has more depth and character development. Accordingly, there are hours of gameplay to enjoy and plenty of trial and error as you create the perfect hero for your ultimate playthrough.

Soulstone Survivors highlights the plight of light vs dark!

Light vs dark is a classic tale. Evil does whatever it can to rule the roost, and light can not let it prevail. Consequently, a hero steps forward to save the day. The Dawnstone cannot be extinguished. If this holy power dies, so does humanity. Thankfully, a band of willing heroes steps forward, and every gargantuan boss is quaking in their demonic boots.

Each playthrough is designed around a simple concept. Pick your hero, choose your magical loadout, and get to work. As you kill a horde of monsters, you’ll be presented with a demonic overlord to thwart. There are 5 in total, and each one has a unique array of deadly skills. Subsequently, you must discover their Achilles’ heel and take them down.

Once you finish each core run, you can stop playing or jump into an endless wave of madness. Alternatively, you can head to a deadly arena filled with elite monsters, minions, and never-ending boss battles. Either way, you will eventually die. Before you pass, you will collect essential resources to permanently upgrade each warrior, wizard, or assassin.

So many playstyles.

Do you want to slice, dice, and maim your foes? Alternatively, maybe you like to pick monsters off from afar? Either way, you can pick a hero who offers each of these skills. As you unlock every protagonist, you must invest in permanent upgrades to improve your chances. Additionally, a blacksmith offers better weaponry at a cost.

Once you select your base layout, you must hope that luck is on your side. As you level up, you can select active and passive skills. Your passive skills improve health, speed, area of effect, and damage output. The active skills, on the other hand, deliver eye-watering attacks with a deadly edge. Meteors, poison, fire, and a vortex change the course of the game. As you progress, new skills are added. As such, you are continuously evolving and experimenting for the best setup.

Soulstone Survivors is a challenge to follow.

It must be my age, but Soulstone Survivors was tough to observe. Don’t get me wrong, it looks amazing. However, the sheer volume of monsters combined with their magical abilities makes your eyes hurt. There isn’t a second of respite, and the sensory overload is tiring but incredible. Alongside this, the audio is a treat! It is loud, obnoxious, and spectacular. An array of tracks delivers energy and an oppressive atmosphere. Though many of the songs play on repeat, you will not tire of what you hear.

If running in circles while pressing limited buttons is your thing, then Soulstone Survivors will appeal. It is ridiculously easy to master! Dashing and moving are your only concerns. Therefore, a child could enjoy this without concern. In typical genre fashion, this oozes replay value and longevity. However, unlike its peers, this has plenty of character depth and almost unlimited playstyles. Consequently, you’ll lose hours of your life to this game.

A spectacular addition to the genre.

This genre is saturated. It feels like every indie developer wants a piece of the pie. Though this isn’t an issue per se, you get a lot of poor imitations. Thankfully, Soulstone Survivors isn’t in that category. It is well polished and a joy to play. Moreover, the character development is incredible, and every playthrough feels dangerous and unique. Accordingly, it is a spectacular addition to the genre, and you must buy a copy from the Xbox store!
